Junior Audio Engineer / Editor (Casual) - Great First Step into Radio & Audio Production.

Love podcasts, music, or radio? Looking to build real industry experience? We're looking for a motivated Junior Audio Engineer / Editor to help prepare our radio shows for broadcast and replay.
What you'll be doing
- Edit 1-hour radio shows into approx four 15-minute episodes.
- Manually insert radio stings, station IDs, and commercial breaks into each segmented episode.
- Clean up edits by removing time-sensitive references (such as "new song" mentions, date sensitive gig mentions, or timestamps) so episodes can be replayed anytime. Attention to detail is required for this part.
- Deliver polished, broadcast-ready audio.

As part of your application, we'd love to see your editing skills. Visit our Shows page and edit one INDIE HOUR episode into four 15-minute segments following the instructions above. When submitting the segments please use the file naming convention “INDIEHOUR EPXX - SEGMENT X” - (insert numbers in X).
Please submit audio as MP3 File Only - no other formats are supported by our radio server.
Bonus points
If you're comfortable behind a microphone and would enjoy introducing songs or chatting between segments, we'd love to hear from you. On-air confidence is a big plus and could lead to more opportunities.
Who we're looking for
- Candidate based in New Zealand with rights to work in NZ.
- Recent graduates or early-career audio professionals, or seasoned audio engineers.
- Qualified or certified Audio Engineers - Diploma is preferred (please tell us where and when you studied).
- Strong attention to detail and a good ear for clean, natural edits.
- Passion for music, radio, podcasts, or audio storytelling.
- Not currently working for any other broadcaster or media company that is conflict of interest.
- We may begin with a short paid trial period to determine whether we're a good fit for each other and to assess the quality of the editing. Please note that this is casual, project-based work rather than a permanent or guaranteed ongoing role.
- Any onboarding or administrative requirements (such as completing forms, setting up accounts, or reviewing guidelines) are unpaid and are considered part of the initial onboarding process. Compensation applies only to approved editing work, including the paid trial period.
